I love the books in this series! They are simple, easy for my kindergartners to understand, and give a good Biblical view of creation. I only gave this book four stars because I realized that the edition I ordered (second edition, 2005) is missing some of the pages that the 1999 edition had. They are important pages about the stars and planets, so this was disappointing to me! I will be checking the other books that I ordered to see if their editions changed as well.
God Made Outer Space by Heno Head, Jr. is a great little introduction to the planets, stars, and related topics. This Level 3 (independent reader) book begins
"The Bible's first words are 'In the beginning God created the heavens and earth.' Before creation all was dark and empty, lonely and quiet. Create means 'to make.' When God created, he made things. He made lots of things to fill the place we call OUTER SPACE. He scattered stars across space, sparkling up the darkness."
The author then explains
* Stars come in sizes from small to huge.
* The stars in space aren't star-shaped, they are round.
* What the Milky Way and Constellations are (with a basic introduction to the Big Dipper, Little Dipper, and Orion).
* The basics about the sun, including a vivid description of how big it is. ("If the sun were hollow, it would take a million Earths to fill it up.")
* What the planets in our solar system are.
* The basics of what moons, comets, asteroids, and meteors are.
Throughout, the author mentions God, and ends the book by saying when the Lord finished making everything, he called it "good...You can read more about God's creation in the Bible! Just look up Genesis, chapter 1."
What I Like Everything! This is an excellent introduction to space - where God is more than an afterthought. It's understandable even for preschoolers, covers all the basics, and includes colorful, useful illustrations by Rusty Fletcher. My four year old loves to have this book read to her.
What I Dislike Nothing, really, although the inclusion of a glossary of terms would be nice.
Overall Rating Excellent.
P.S. The list price for this slim early reader book is really $2.29.

Christian Children's Book Review
I bought this book for my four year old. It is very informative and is presented in a very easy to understand format. I like that it puts emphasis on God instead of just mentioning Him once or twice throughout the book. It's a great introduction for those looking to teach their children creationism instead of the Big Bang or other scientific theories that always seem to be presented as fact in schools.
I have used this book all week in our space themed VBS. It has been fabulous in explaining things God made in outerspace. I will order more from this series for my 2nd and Kindergarten. Would totally recommend!!!
Bought this for my grandson, a preschooler, who is a nut about the planets. Colorful pictures with lots of information on everything from the Milky Way galaxy to planets.
